The average response time of emergency medical services in the United States is nine minutes with an additional three-minute delay, on average, for ambulances entering a hostile environment. If you wait for emergency medical services to arrive, people die. As bleeding deaths can occur within ten minutes of the injury, the actions of the individuals first on scene are critical.
